Press ReleasesEvolution 27 / The Comeback
Following the acquisition of Elite Boxing, Evolution will now be marketed to a global audience alongside Elite Boxing’s other established brands and the first international Evolution event is set to take place on 31st May 2014 in Kuala Lumpur / Malaysia.
The move finally sees Evolution take the success it has enjoyed in the Australian market onto a global stage. For more than a decade, Evolution has been the undisputed champion of the muaythai market in Australia with crowds of up to 5,000 attending a total of 26 events. Evolution has also been responsible for launching the careers of Australia’s muaythai superstars like John Wayne Parr, Nathan Corbett and Bruce MacFie.
Building on the success of the Evolution brand in Australia and Elite Boxing’s international logistical and marketing networks, the first overseas Evolution event offers a massive marketing opportunity for sponsors, media partners and the country of Malaysia.
While the event represents another opportunity for Malaysia’s fighters to compete on an international stage, the interest that the event will receive in both Malaysia and Australia as well as internationally from global distribution through EB’s broadcasting network means that sponsors and media partners can reach an international market.
Malaysia was chosen because of its support for muaythai, its commitment to developing the sport in its own country, and the recent success of Malaysian fighters. In 2012, EB received widespread support from the Malaysian government, media and fight fans in 2012 when it staged a Thailand VS Asia event in the country and attracted members of the Malaysian royal family, government officials, TV celebrities, models, expats and even tourists who traveled to Malaysia purposefully to attend the event.
